On October 23, 2019, Open Douglas welcomed Will Engle, Strategist of Open Education Initiatives from the University of British Columbia, to facilitate a workshop for instructors on how to rethink their assignments using open pedagogy. In other words, asking instructors to change from the old “disposable” model of assessment (“write an essay of 2,000 words about x”) to a more open and inclusive one, from which everyone can benefit.
